The Chinese company Xiaomi continues to delight fans of inexpensive digital technology with more and more new gadgets. For example, on November 11 this year, sales of an improved version of Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2 lite Bluetooth Mi Band 1.55 “HD GPS SmartWatch will start. The model is placed in a reliable case, carefully protected from water (the watch is able to withstand liquid pressure up to 5 atmospheres). The device has a 1.55-inch LCD display with a screen resolution of 360×320 pixels. There are many wireless communication modules provided here – Glonass, GPS, BeiDou, Galileo, Bluetooth 5.0, but there is no NFC for contactless payments.
The watch is perfect for lovers of an active lifestyle and even professional athletes. The interface contains up to a hundred training modes, a heart rate sensor, a sensor that allows you to measure the level of oxygen in the blood in real time. The battery is lithium-ion type, its capacity is 262 mAh. In offline mode, the device can work for 10 days, with the GPS module turned on, the charge will last for about 14 hours. This watch can also work with Xiaomi Wear apps, Strava, Apple Health and more. Let’s take a closer look at all the key features of this gadget.
What comes in the kit?
As conceived by the developers, this device should be perceived by users as a truly premium model, when compared with fitness bracelets in the classical sense. Typically, such gadgets are sold in boxes made of thin cardboard, which is easy to tear even with your fingers. Here the situation is completely different – Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2 lite Bluetooth Mi Band 1.55 “HD GPS SmartWatch comes in a cube of high-density cardboard, in addition, an image of the device is applied to the upper face using glossy lamination. The packaging looks very presentable. Inside, in addition to the watch itself, you can find an instruction manual translated into a completely understandable literary language, as well as a charger.
The watch case and strap are made of plastic, which feels a bit velvety to the touch. There are no complaints about the quality of the material. It gently adheres to the surface of the skin, does not rub it and does not cause allergic reactions. The material is excellently resistant to abrasion – the appearance remains the same after the gym or pool.
When you turn on the device for the first time, a QR code appears on the display, which is a link to the Xiaomi Wear application. To be honest, it was not very clear why a separate program was developed for this watch, although it would be possible to use various applications for fitness bracelets. When synchronizing with a smartphone, the watch will automatically choose the interface language, Russian is also present here. Synchronization is performed automatically and takes a minimum amount of time. On the back of the device are all the necessary sensors, as well as buttons that allow you to change the strap. They are very tight, so you have to make a lot of effort to put pressure on them. The sensors protrude a little beyond the body – this is a very good design solution, as this allows them to fit closer to the skin surface, so the readings will be as accurate as possible.
The watch screen has a high pixel density of 323 PPI. Such a solution has become very convenient, since a large amount of various data, menu icons, and a weather forecast for four days at once are placed on the display. There are a lot of options for dials – you will be able to choose the most suitable one, as both classic and most futuristic interfaces are presented. It is not very clear how to change the backlight time of the display – for this you have to climb through the settings for quite a long time. The screen brightness is 350 nits. Even in bright sunlight, you can see all the information displayed on the display. Glare from the screen is not due to a special coating.
The manufacturer assures that the watch on a single charge can work for 10 days, but a number of important factors play a role here. The period of operation depends on the selected screen brightness, the duration of the backlight, the functions involved and a number of additional parameters. In particular, if you turn on the brightest backlight for 5 seconds, activate real-time heart rate monitoring and turn off notifications, then the watch can last for eight days.
If you constantly keep in touch with your smartphone via Bluetooth, read notifications, control the player, then the period of work is reduced to 5-6 days. If you activate the maximum backlight for a period of 20 seconds, use all the functions and monitoring, then the device will function for 3-4 days. For charging, a fairly convenient and functional cradle is used. The battery capacity is small, so the battery is fully charged within 45 minutes.
There are quite a few applications here. The icon depicting a running person is a training program, a notebook sheet allows you to view the statistics of classes for the entire time, a yellow droplet – statistics for one day. By clicking on the heart, you can see the readings of the pulse sensor. The moon icon tracks the quality of your sleep throughout the night. The white square represents the original breathing exercises. The watch display begins to flicker, and the user is prompted to breathe in time with this flicker, and the flash period can be set independently. The interface has a compass, barometer, music control app, weather, alarm clock, timer, stopwatch.
There is also a flashlight – when this mode is selected, the display at maximum brightness begins to glow with milky white light. The phone icon allows you to locate a smartphone that is synchronized with the watch. Of course, there is an application with settings.
GPS and GLONASS modules allow you to track the duration of the run, its intensity, speed of movement, and so on. In the pool mode, you can specify its length, the watch will record the distance traveled and the speed of the swimmer. The device works very accurately, the display is blocked by itself. As an accessory, the device looks on the hand much more representative than a classic bracelet. I really liked the large selection of training modes.
All sensors work with high accuracy, and this even applies to measuring the pulse and the level of oxygen in the blood. I didn’t like the lack of a contactless payment module a little. There is also no PAI activity rating, when the overall state of the user during the day is assessed by points.
Chinese engineers again managed to develop a rather interesting gadget at a reasonable price. Of course, you should not treat it like a professional sports device, but it can make training much more comfortable. The device received a nice design, it fits comfortably and comfortably to the wrist, does not rub the hand. All of its main features are easy to use. In general, we recommend to buy.
