If you want to fix a heavy or large structure on a brick or concrete wall, anchors are used. Anchor bolt is a metal part that is hammered into a hole previously made in a solid base.

For the street, it is desirable to install a stainless anchor. If aesthetic appearance and ease of installation are important, then it is desirable to use sleeve anchors with a bolt head. In general, there are different types of anchors, therefore, in order to choose the right fasteners, you need to know which anchor is suitable for which task.

Types of anchors:

  • By operating time:
    • Anchors are temporary.
    • Permanent.
  • By size:
    • Small anchors – length up to 5.5 cm and diameter up to 0.8 cm.
    • Medium anchors – up to 12 cm long and up to 1.2 cm in diameter.
    • Large anchors – up to 22 cm long and up to 2.4 cm in diameter.
  • According to the type of material in which they are fixed:
    • For dense materials.
    • For hollow materials.
    • For sheet material.
  • Mounting type:
    • Mechanical – fastened in the base due to the mechanical action of the working part of the anchor on this base. They are divided according to the technique of introduction into:
      • Mortgages – fastened to the frame of the structure before pouring concrete.
      • Spacer – fastened due to the friction force of the conical part of the anchor, which bursts when the bolt is screwed in.
      • Drive-in – they are held in the wall due to a notched iron sleeve, into which a spacer rod is driven.
      • Wedge – inserted into a pre-drilled hole. First, they are driven in, then a bolt with a coupling is screwed into them, expanding and wedging the anchor in the wall.
      • With a ring (hook) – this anchor is used for suspended structures.
      • Frame – their feature is the shape of the head, it allows you to set it flush with the surface.
      • Studs – these fasteners have 2 fastening ends, and the connection is tightened with a nut.
      • Facade anchors – for fixing facade elements. They have a polyamide coupling and a galvanized screw. The head of the screw, due to the washer, presses the facade cladding.
      • Ceiling anchors – operate on the principle of wedges, have an eye. Used for attaching suspended structures, lamps and chandeliers.
      • Spring anchors – for thin-walled construction. It is attached by deploying a spring that passes through the hole.
    • Chemical anchors – an additional gluing mechanism is used, with adhesive based on polyester resin.
