Even with strong shocks, the functional assembly of the equipment does not move up and down or back and forth inside the box.

Why carry out the installation of fixing parts when transporting equipment?

The only non-rigidly fixed functional unit of the washer is the tank. It is mounted on the bottom of the dampers (shock absorbers), and on top of the springs. No matter how carefully the transportation or skidding of the washer to the installation site is carried out, strong shocks cannot be avoided. Therefore, a structural element that does not have a rigid fastening inside the body will inevitably move in all directions with the slightest shocks. This can be avoided by installing transport bolts (supplied with household appliances). The setting of the fixing parts is carried out at the manufacturer’s factory.

The elements fixing the tank look like metal pins of different lengths (depending on the model and manufacturer of the washing machine). Their main task is to keep the tank in a static position during shocks and at the same time not damage the less durable hull and elements. Therefore, the transport bolts on the washing machine are supplemented with steel, rubber and plastic washers.

The soft plastic part is designed to come into contact with the body – it does not damage it under shock loads, and the metal part securely holds the pin in the body hole and prevents the head of the bolt from punching through the surface of the body.

Depending on which washing machine the consumer purchases, from 3 to 6 metal fixing parts can be used when transporting equipment. But usually there are 4 of them. The pins can be supplemented with special plastic fasteners-inserts that are put on the bolt axis. They are used to ensure a reliable and fixed fastening (there is some distance between the tank and the wall of the case, and it is filled with plastic fasteners).

Finding the places on the case where the shipping bolts are located is easy. They are located along the perimeter of the back wall. The exact location is easy to find out by looking at the instructions. Usually these details are easily visible on the surface. However, some manufacturers produce non-standard models, on the back wall of which it is difficult to find fixation points. In the instructions for the technique, they are clearly indicated.

What to do with fixing bolts?

It is necessary to remove the transport bolts from the washing machine, and only then begin its operation. What for? The shock absorbers and springs used to fasten the tank inside the body perform the function of damping vibrations and preventing the increase of its swing. The “stowed position” does not allow the springs and shock absorbers to perform their tasks, and therefore the equipment that works with the pins will soon break down. But the main thing will bring a lot of trouble during use.

If you do not remove the shipping bolts, then the washer will:

  • jump (literally) on the floor, moving in all directions;
  • make loud noises
  • vibrate very strongly;
  • it is not good to distribute the laundry on the drum.

Metal shipping bolts in a washing machine can also have different head sizes. To remove them, you will need a regular wrench (10,12 or 14) or a special wrench supplied by the manufacturer with the equipment. In addition, pliers are required.

In the instructions attached to the technique, the question of how to remove the transport bolts by selecting the appropriate key is necessarily considered. The extraction process is easy. The metal pin must simply be unscrewed and removed from the housing. For some models, the pin is removed using pliers. It is required with a little effort to turn the bolt head a quarter of a turn and remove the rod.

It may happen that plastic fasteners-inserts, when removing metal pins, fall inside the housing of household appliances. They must be carefully removed by slightly tilting the machine. Do not leave plastic parts inside. They can be useful if you need to install shipping bolts when transporting equipment to another location. In addition, the presence of plastic parts inside the case can become a source of noise and breakage.

The holes remaining in place of the fixing elements should be covered with plastic plugs. They must be supplied with the equipment. The plugs are inserted by pressing with force – until they click. They perform decorative and protective functions, so their installation is desirable.

Bolts and other fasteners removed from the washing machine should not be thrown away. They come in handy when moving. The installation procedure is as easy as the removal procedure. All steps must be done in reverse order.
