If you are a gamer and you have decent gaming headphones, then consider that 30% of the victory is already in your pocket. A good computer, a keyboard that suits your purpose, and a dedicated gaming mouse will do the trick, but sound is undoubtedly one of the main factors.

However, what should be such headphones? We have identified some rules for choosing the perfect gaming headset, and also made a rating – top 10.

Selection rules

First of all, I must say that you can’t buy good gaming headphones for five kopecks. Prices start around from 3 thousand rubles, and these are quite budget models that will allow you to play, but they will not give you a cool sound transmission. Of course, you can buy an option on Ali for 500 rubles, but such a headset will be like a Christmas tree toy: beautiful, but not happy.

Choosing headphones with a microphone for a computer: gaming vs musicNext parameterWhat you need to pay attention to: whether the headphones have surround sound technology. It is optimal if they can produce virtual 7.1 sound. This sound quality will help when the enemy needs to be heard long before he appears, for example, when he comes around a corner or sneaks up behind.

Second factor, which should be taken into account – the resistance given out by the headphones. If you need a headset that works without noise and distortion, this figure should be at least 30-32 ohms, or better, twice as high.

Third moment. The headset for a gamer must be accompanied by a long cable – at least 2 meters. It is best, of course, if the wire is removable: it can be shortened if necessary, and in case of breakage, it can be quickly replaced. With regards to wireless headphones: we are not categorically against their use for gaming, but we must take into account the fact that the average “life” of such a device from charging to charging is usually 15-20, maximum 36 hours, then the game has to be interrupted, and wireless gaming headphones with a microphone – charge. In addition, the sound quality of such a headset is often somewhat lower than that of wired relatives.

Traditionally for games it is recommended to choose headphones, connected to a computer USBbecause the 3.5mm jack may distort sounds or the microphone does. However, there is a stumbling block here. The fact is that if a good sound card is installed in the computer, for example, of the Creative Sound Blaster Z level, this rule will not work. That is, the recommendation is relevant for those players who have integrated sound and standard codecs in their PC. In their case, indeed, the best sound will be in a USB headset. The advantage of such a device is that they already have their own DAC and amplifier installed inside, the wiring of these parts is done according to the mind. That’s why, no matter how the sound is arranged in the PC itself, the sound quality will be consistently good.

Equally important is the parameter low frequency transmission, i.e. bass. It is believed that here the emphasis should be on low frequencies so that the sounds are saturated, therefore, PC headphones with a microphone – gaming as well as music – should have a sensitivity of at least 105 dB. However, in fact, this is not entirely true. Or maybe not at all. The fact is that if a player hears only roar and reverberation, for example, during shooting in a shooter, he often cannot correctly assess the source of the sound in the game, make a correct sound picture of the area. Therefore, it is better not to be zealous with basses, since for a gamer it is more important not the beauty of the sound, but its informativeness.

However, top manufacturers offer various options for displaying bass: there are gaming “ears” with a significant boost in low frequencies, indeed, the majority of them, but there are also headsets that do not have this function. And it is not necessary.

The next important moment for the player – the location of the control unit. Ideally, it should be directly on the cord. If during the game you have to blindly poke somewhere in the ear area, this is not an option for gaming: it makes you distracted, and even, what good, you click somewhere in the wrong place.

And finally, of course, you should evaluate materials from which the gadget is made. If the ear pads are equipped with a memory effect and lined with breathable leatherette, which will not make your ears sweat, if the arc is metal, but duplicated by a second, soft one, if the case is made, for example, of high-quality plastic, and the cord is in a reliable braid – you can safely take it. But still, do not judge only by appearance: ideally, before buying, you need to play with new headphones for an hour or two, but since this is usually not possible in a store, you should at least try them on. Ease of use is a big deal.

Decide if you want to buy half-open “ears” or completely closed – only you, and it depends entirely on your tasks. If you can give yourself 100% to the game, buy closed ones. If you are constantly being approached: boss, wife or mother, it is better to take, of course, half-open ones. But then at night you can’t play with full dedication.

Choosing headphones with a microphone for a computer: gaming vs musicConcerning microphonethen everything is quite simple: you need to choose a headset with high sensitivity and active noise reduction – this is enough for your game partners to hear quite clearly everything that you have to tell them, even in a whisper.

1. SteelSeries Arctis Pro USB

Excellent, albeit quite expensive gaming headphones with a microphone – SteelSeries Arctis Pro USB represent a kind of classic in the gaming world. It’s a full-size headset with 32 ohm impedance, 102dB sensitivity, active noise-cancelling mic, ventilated ear cushions, just the way we like it. The cost of such a device will be almost 15 thousand rubles, but believe me, they are worth it.

2. Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2

The direct competitor for leadership is the Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2, which in all respects corresponds to our idea of u200bu200bthe ideal gaming headphones with a microphone. The type of acoustic design here is closed, the cable length is as much as 3 meters, and the gadget can connect to a PC both using USB and using 2 3.5mm jacks. The disadvantages include some fragility of the design, which you do not expect for 16 thousand rubles, which are asked for this headset.

3. Logitech GG PRO

Cute headphones in a classic design, Logitech GG PRO do not upset in terms of sound either: there are bright basses, and the clarity of playback is quite up to par. But the cost starts from 6.5 thousand rubles, which makes the device a winner in the price / quality category.

5 Plantronics RIG 600

The veteran of the gaming (and not only) audio market has long established itself among the players. The only slippery moment in this headset is the 3.5 mm combo jack. Otherwise, this full-sized device is well worth the money, and the price here is about 5 thousand rubles.

6. Logitech G G633 Artemis Spectrum Gaming

And again, the result of the efforts of engineers from the good old Logitech. According to users, it is very difficult to find fault with the sound here, we liked the design, the ear cups are deep. However, there are two main complaints here: firstly, not a very neat assembly (we hope that the manufacturer will fix this moment), and, secondly, inconvenient microphone control.

7. HyperX Cloud Silver

A little disappointed with the build quality of HyperX Cloud Silver. However, the microphone here is noise-canceling, the sound quality “in the ears” is not bad, so, if you do not take into account the moment of the assembly lottery, in general, the headset will suit both a novice gamer and an experienced one.

8. SVEN AP-U980MV

A very low-budget option is SVEN AP-U980MV, however, for 1.5 thousand rubles, this is undoubtedly the best one you can choose. The downside here is the slightly annoying backlighting, besides, this headset is quite heavy (365g) for long game play, and the virtual 7.1 sound leaves much to be desired.

9. Creative Sound BlasterX H7 Tournament Edition

Quite worthy computer headphones from Creative are distinguished by a reliable design, a cord that has been improved compared to the previous version, which, however, would not be superfluous to make it more authentic. Otherwise, the headset does credit to the manufacturer.

10. AKG Y50

Although these headphones are not officially gaming, they are so good that they are quite suitable for the game. The first thing that attracts attention here is the excellent workmanship: bright, soft, well-made – these headphones will not let you down. The sound quality for the game is sufficient here: although the resistance is at the lower limit, the sensitivity is not bad. If you like to play “with a roar”, you will like it. Let us down here the length of the cable, it is only 1.2 meters. But the cable can be extended. But with a connector it won’t work out so easily: the headphones are equipped with a 3.5 mm jack.
