How to choose a lens for product photography

The choice of optics always depends on what goals you are pursuing and what result you plan to achieve. If the requirements for photographs are not high, then a standard KIT lens, which often comes with a semi-professional camera, will suffice. Obviously, the choice of lenses is very wide, so you should immediately exclude wide-angle and zoom lenses. The case is made of plastic, which inspires confidence in terms of durability. The bayonet mount is metal, but it does not have protection against the ingress of moisture and dust. The rubberized focus and zoom rings “walk” at the same time smoothly and tightly enough so that this mechanism does not come loose in the future.

The weak point of the lens is the “trunk” that moves out strongly when zooming, so you should not use it without protection in places where there may be an excess of dust, fine sand and other abrasive suspensions in the air – construction sites, open spaces with dry soil, etc. e. This lens allows you to achieve high image detail at all focal lengths, and with the maximum aperture. At the edges, the detail is slightly reduced, but still remains at a good level. We are talking about the Tamron AF 90 mm f / 2.8 Di SP model, which is available in several versions for cameras from Canon, Nikon, Minolta and other manufacturers. The price of such a lens varies from 390 USD to 660 USD. The cost depends on which camera you purchase this macro lens for.

This model can be used for both macro and portrait photography. That is, it can be optimally suited for subject photography, since you have the opportunity to shoot not only very small objects, but also larger ones.
