When arranging a kitchen in a city apartment, most of our fellow citizens have to face the problem of saving space. And one of the smartest solutions is to arrange the oven and hob separately, and not as a monolithic and often bulky gas stove. The editors of Expertology magazine conducted a study of the market for large household appliances in 2020 and, based on the findings of our experts, have prepared for you an extended overview of the most interesting models.

How to choose a gas hob

To begin with, let’s analyze the main points that it would be advisable to take into account in the first place, getting acquainted with new models of hobs. These are signs by which you can navigate on your own, whether this or that model is suitable for you in principle. And based on the results of the preliminary selection, a more in-depth analysis can be carried out.

Brand

First of all, experts recommend not to absolutize certain trademarks, and even those that are overgrown with stamps like “German quality”. In the modern, thoroughly globalized world, it has long become the norm when almost one name remains from the same BOSH, and production is carried out in China.

There is, of course, a difference between production at the company’s own factory, which is simply geographically located in the Middle Kingdom, and contract production, when the company holding the brand is essentially only an investor and distributor. However, in any case, relying only on a well-known brand in the field of household appliances is not worth it. Brands such as Hotpoint-Ariston, Electrolux, Bosch and other big names can serve as a good guide, but each model must be analyzed separately to make a final choice.

Number and design of burners

Now let’s move on to the most obvious technical details. Built-in hobs, for the most part for the mass consumer, are available in formats with two, three, four or five burners. More than five also happen, but these are rare and not particularly appropriate options for a city apartment, we will not consider them.

As for the design, here the market has also been settled for quite a long time, and the most convenient solutions have become the most widespread. According to the nature of the flame, the burners are usually divided into standard, with a double flame and triple (triple crown). It is the burners of the double or triple crown type that are used to cook dishes in a wok using a metal adapter to install this large dish.

A separate type is Direct Flame type burners, when the flame breaks through many small holes over the entire burner area. With this method, it is possible to achieve the smallest heat loss, and with equal volumes of passing gas, such a burner gives a uniform and on average accelerated by 20% heating compared to the classic options.

Surface material

The most common surface material options for modern hobs are enamel, stainless steel, glass-ceramic and tempered glass. Consider briefly the features of each type.

  1. Enamelled surfaces are the most convenient in terms of cleaning. But they are also too “mainstream”, even in a bad sense – enamel is not corny fashionable, and is still closely associated with Soviet stoves and utensils. In addition, enamel is also not eternal, and over time, chips can and will form on it, exposing an unsightly iron substrate. Enamel is also not friendly with abrasives, from which noticeable abrasions form on it. On the other hand, an enameled hob gives you more color options, but this is not a very convincing advantage.

  2. The exposed stainless steel surface is well suited for modern interiors, especially in high-tech style and similar variations. In terms of ease of cleaning, it is inferior to enamel, but not too much. A big plus of stainless steel is that it easily tolerates abrasive detergents without compromising its appearance. But using metal scrapers is also not worth it, since metal on metal can certainly leave noticeable marks. If you choose a hob with a stainless steel surface, it must be matte, otherwise fingerprints and dried stains will be its inescapable “attributes”.

  3. Glass-ceramics, or, as it is still fashionable to call panels with such a surface – “gas on glass” – this is a fashionable and stylish option, somewhat more time-consuming than enamel and stainless steel, but undoubtedly impressive looking. The color is most often white or deep black. Another thing is that such a panel will not withstand a strong shock load and may crack. This is unlikely, but still not excluded.

  4. Tempered glass is almost the same in essence as glass-ceramic. The only difference is that it is often thicker and stronger, and therefore more resilient in case of accidental falls of something heavy and hard. The complexity of cleaning is similar to glass ceramics. The colors are most often black, white, beige, less often red, copper and other shades.

Grates – cast iron or steel

The grates of the hob are made either of steel, and then they are also covered with enamel on top, or of cast iron. Both options have advantages and disadvantages.

  1. Steel gratings are much lighter than cast iron ones, thinner, and much easier to clean due to the enamel coating. But these advantages have a downside – due to their low weight, they are less stable, and over time, from constant exposure to high temperatures and their fluctuations, they will inevitably deform. The enamel coating is also not eternal, and in places of contact with dishes and flames, it degrades and peels off first.

  2. Cast iron grills are the complete opposite of steel ones. They are heavy, but stable, do not rust, but their surface is porous, and it is difficult to wash them. On the other hand, cast iron is different from cast iron, and in high-quality models, grates can have a pleasant matte surface, much more suitable for comfortable cleaning.

  3. It is highly desirable that the grates in the hob are not a solid monolith over the entire surface, but at least doubled onto adjacent burners, then it is much more convenient to wash them. Ideally, each burner has a separate grate, but only cast-iron ones are such, and even then not always.

In terms of a combination of factors and a cut of the general opinion of users, cast-iron grates are still more preferable, and in our review, we will consider them the advantage of each model under consideration.

Electric ignition, gas control, child protection

These three additional features are not always needed, but they are always mentioned in the descriptions, since it can always turn out that for the next potential buyer at least one of them is critical.

  1. As for electric ignition, it is now difficult to find a modern hob without such a device. However, individual specimens, either super-cheap, or vice versa, too “snobbish”, may not have electric ignition, so it’s better to overdo it when choosing than underdo it. It is also necessary to distinguish between automatic and semi-automatic electric ignition. The full automat works at the moment of turning the burner gas supply regulator. With semi-automatic at the time of gas supply, you need to press a separate special button.

  2. Gas control is a function that automatically shuts off the gas supply if the flame goes out and the gas continues to flow. It would seem that the function is extremely necessary, but it turns out, not always. Firstly, it is tightly tied to the same electric ignition. When the gas control is on, the electric ignition will not work immediately, but after 3-6 seconds, the older the panel, the longer. This does not suit everyone, and self-confident owners disable this feature. Here, everyone decides about their own safety.

  3. Child lock is a simple control panel lock feature. As a rule, it is arranged with a separate regulator, which must be turned by drowning. After that, control will be unavailable, and the child will accidentally or even intentionally not be able to unlock.

Helpful Hints

At the end of the block of tips on choosing the best gas hob, Expertology experts will share with you some more useful little things that can make life easier and make the right choice.

When choosing a color, you should know that black is the most impractical, oddly enough. It literally “glows” all stains and fingerprints. On white, prints and streaks are not so clearly visible. but the slightest contamination is very noticeable. The best option is beige or slightly grayish white.

An obvious point that many people forget. It is desirable that the gas regulators and, in general, any controls do not have ribbing, but also do not sparkle with gloss. The ribbing does not fundamentally change anything in terms of the convenience of turning the regulator in modern stoves, but cleaning such a surface from visible contamination is very tedious, long and dreary, especially if the surface is white. The matte surface will effectively hide fingerprints, dried splashes and streaks, while on the glossy surface they will be like at the exhibition, and you will always have the feeling of a dirty stove.

The best gas hobs for 2 burners

In the first selection of the review, we will consider the most minimal option in every sense, which is best suited for a small kitchen. As a rule, two-burner hobs are equipped with burners of different sizes – standard and large for large dishes. And most often in a large burner there is also one row of flames, but there are exceptions with a double / triple crown. This format of hobs, the width of which does not exceed 30 cm, is also called “domino”.

GEFEST PVG 2002

Rating: 4.6

GEFEST PVG 2002

The first in the list will traditionally be the most inexpensive model of the Belarusian brand GEFEST, well-recognized in Russia and the CIS. The equipment of this brand is produced in Belarus itself at the facilities of the plant of the JV OJSC Brestgazoapparat.

The hob PVG 2002 is available in two color options – black and white, they may vary slightly in price, by several hundred rubles, depending on the point of sale. Dimensions of embedding in kitchen furniture – 26 x 48.6 cm, overall dimensions – 30x53x10 cm.

The surface of the hob is made of tempered glass, it looks high quality, especially in the white version, when a bright contrast is obtained between the snow-white surface and the jet-black grilles. The latter, by the way, are cast iron, and the surface has a pleasant texture both in appearance and in terms of ease of cleaning.

In front of the panel there are two mechanical rotary gas regulators. Electric ignition is automatic – the elements are built into the mechanisms of the regulators. There is a gas control function.

The presence of gas control here causes certain inconveniences, with which different manufacturers cope with varying degrees of success. In this case, in order for the solenoid valve to work, the regulator must be pressed in quite strongly, which can be difficult for an elderly person to do. Another point is the proximity of the controls to the front burner. If you cook on it in a small dish, then there is no problem, but if the pan or pan is larger, the handles will noticeably heat up.

The official warranty for this model from the manufacturer is 2 years. The manufacturer’s estimated service life is 60 months.

Advantages

  • quality assembly;
  • surface – tempered glass;
  • cast iron grills with a smooth matte texture;
  • automatic electric ignition;
  • gas control;
  • attractive appearance;
  • kit for bottled gas included;
  • the most affordable price in the collection.

Flaws

  • due to the proximity, the regulators are likely to heat up when cooking on the first burner in a large dish;
  • pressing the knobs firmly to trigger the electric ignition.

Beko HDCG 32220FX

Rating: 4.7

Beko HDCG 32220FX

Now consider another inexpensive Beko domino hob. It is a well-known brand of the Turkish technology company Koç Holding. Beko appliances are in great demand in Turkey and abroad for decent quality at affordable prices.

Panel dimensions – 28.80x51x7.50 cm, dimensions for embedding – 27×49 cm. Net weight without packaging – 4.8 kg. In this model, the surface is already made of stainless steel. At the same time, the surface is more glossy than matte, and dried splashes and fingerprints will be clearly visible on it. But the appearance of the plate itself is attractive, suitable for any modern kitchen interior.

Both burners here are single-circuit, but the dimensions and gas power differ significantly, since the second, far burner is of the “express” type. In terms of heating power, the near burner is 1000 W, the far one is 2900 W.

The grilles of this model are steel, covered with enamel. As we said above, this is a convenient option in terms of washing, but inconvenient in terms of stability and durability. Beko’s range includes the HDCG 32221 FX model, similar in format and functionality, with exactly the same surface, but with cast-iron grates, however, it will cost significantly more.

The gas supply regulators are located in a vertical position at the front of the panel. Electric ignition is automatic, there is gas control.

The experts did not find fundamental flaws in this model, and the complaints of users in the mass are almost exclusively advisory in nature. For example, the fact that cooking simultaneously on two burners is difficult due to the fact that the dishes often do not fit. But this is a common problem with such “small-capacity” hobs, which you have to put up with.

Another point is the plastic regulators, which, if touched with a hot frying pan, will cause an unaesthetic mark. But this is already a matter of personal accuracy of operation, and it would be a disadvantage only for models of a more expensive class.

The official warranty from Koç Holding for this model is 24 months.

Advantages

  • solid materials and assembly;
  • electric ignition and gas control;
  • there is an express burner;
  • combination of price and features.

Flaws

  • Marked glossy surface;
  • steel gratings.

Hotpoint-Ariston DK 20GH

Rating: 4.8

Hotpoint-Ariston DK 20GH

The review will continue with the Hotpoint-Ariston domino-format stove. The brand itself is a vivid example of total globalization. Both Hotpoint and Ariston once represented separate manufacturers – British and Italian, respectively. Then they were merged into one during their takeover by the Italian company Indesit, and already in 2014, Indesit itself, with its almost century-long history, was completely bought and abolished by the American giant Whirlpool Corporation.

The dimensions for embedding are 26.8 x 49 cm, the total surface dimensions along the perimeter are 29.80×51 cm. The surface, as in the previous version, is made of stainless steel and with exactly the same glossy texture, on which all dried splashes and fingerprints are visible. However, many buyers are initially ready for this circumstance, and are ready to put up with it for the sake of a decent appearance.

Unlike the option described above, there is already a cast-iron grate, and it is very massive, it definitely does not face deformation or unstable position of the dishes. The dimensions and, accordingly, the power of the burners differ significantly, as in the previous version. Both burners are single-circuit.

We must praise the developers for an extremely simple idea, which for some reason not every manufacturer of small-format gas hobs comes up with. In this case, the gas supply regulators are spaced as far as possible at different ends of the front panel. Thus, the heating of the handles is minimized if there is a large diameter pan on the front burner.

As in both hobs described above, there is automatic ignition, there is gas control. A fairly common problem, when a small burner does not want to light up for a long time, is also present here and is aggravated as it is used.

The manufacturer’s warranty for this model is one year. The estimated service life declared by the manufacturer is 10 years.

Advantages

  • cast iron grills;
  • the location of the regulators;
  • auto ignition and gas control;
  • attractive appearance.

Flaws

  • auto-ignition of a small burner may not work for a long time;
  • Marked glossy surface;

MAUNFELD EGHG.32.1CWG

Rating: 4.9

MAUNFELD EGHG.32.1CWG

An interesting model of the MAUNFELD trademark will complete the selection of the best two-burner gas hobs according to Expertology. This is a slightly “partisan” brand, since the style of the name is clearly German, registered in the UK, but in fact it is of Russian origin – the trademark holder is TD Maunfeld. Despite all this, quite good household appliances are produced under the MAUNFELD brand.

The dimensions of the stove around the perimeter are 29×51.50 cm, the parameters for embedding are 26×48.5 cm. The surface is made of tempered glass, in combination with a white surface, the dried splashes will not be too noticeable, but the remains of dirt from cooking will be noticeable. The biggest cleaning problem is the ribbed gas regulators. So that they always have a well-groomed appearance, they should be washed and cleaned immediately after cooking.

There are two types of burners in terms of heating power – standard and “express”. The latter is located behind. Some users prefer a closer location, but in compact domino panels this causes the problem of heating gas regulators. In MAUNFELD EGHG.32.1CW G, this problem is relevant in itself – the regulators are located next to and too close to the burner, and this can be qualified as a drawback.

In a characteristic way, the manufacturer solved the issue with the gratings. Here they are frameless, made in the form of cruciform cast-iron stands. This solution is welcomed by most users, since individual racks are much more convenient to wash even in a small kitchen sink.

Like all previous models, this stove has a built-in gas control function. Auto-ignition is automatic, built into the regulators.

Advantages

  • surface – tempered glass;
  • there is an express burner;
  • separate, not double gratings;
  • grating material – cast iron;
  • attractive appearance.

Flaws

  • too close to the front burner the location of the regulators;
  • ribbed regulators, difficult to keep perfectly clean.

The best gas hobs for 3 burners

The second selection of the review will be devoted to hobs of a form factor that is compromised in terms of dimensions – for three burners. This is the best option for a city apartment and a small family.

Schaub Lorenz SLK GS4010

Rating: 4.6

Schaub Lorenz SLK GS4010

The most affordable three-burner hob in this section will also be a trademark with the deepest history, going back to the century before last. Over the years, the brand has changed hands more than once, until it finally ended up in the ownership of the international corporation General Trading. Production facilities are located in Turkey and partly in Belarus.

Panel dimensions around the perimeter – 44x51x10 cm, for embedding – 41 x 49 cm, weight – 6.7 kg. The surface is enamelled steel, easy to clean, but you always need to wipe dry, as dried stains are clearly visible on a black background. On the other hand, the black color of the surface goes well with the stainless steel gas regulators, and in general, the design of the stove looks modern and even stylish.

The three burners are arranged in a herringbone pattern: the smallest burner is on the bottom left, the middle burner is on the top left, and the large express burner is on the right in the middle. Power in terms of watts of burners: small – 1000 W, standard – 1750 W, express – 3000 W.

Some users note this arrangement as suboptimal, since if something is cooked on a large express burner, then it is already difficult to put something on the other two. There is a sense and a rational grain in this remark.

But where the developers did not fail is in the location of the regulators – all three are located side by side, on the right side of the front of the stove, that is, at the maximum possible distance from the fire and the edges of the dishes. Auto ignition works automatically. Gas control is not provided.

The most controversial part in this model is the grille. It is solid, on all three burners, that is, it will not fit comfortably in the sink for washing. And it’s steel, not cast iron. True, as always in the case of steel gratings, there is an enamel coating. facilitating cleaning and washing, but in places of contact with fire, the enamel quickly loses its properties in any case.

The official manufacturer’s warranty for this model is 3 years. The delivery set includes a set with jets for connection to bottled gas.

Advantages

  • reputable brand and manufacturer;
  • proper arrangement of regulators;
  • stainless steel regulators;
  • stylish appearance;
  • 3 years warranty;
  • jets for connection to bottled gas included.

Flaws

  • no gas control;
  • poor location of a large express burner – the dishes overlap the other two;
  • steel and solid grate for all three burners.

Weissgauff HGG 451 WGH

Rating: 4.7

Weissgauff HGG 451 WGH

Next, we will consider a three-burner hob of the Russian brand Weissgauff. This is precisely the Russian brand, despite the diligent disguise as German. The manufactory of the same name was indeed founded in Germany, but at the beginning of the last century, and it received a “second life” in 2013 under the wing of the domestic company Megalex, no longer having any relation to Germany. Nevertheless, large and small Weissgauff household appliances are known for their good quality and are in high demand.

Plate dimensions – 45x51x4 cm, parameters for embedding – 43×48 cm. Surface material – tempered glass. It is easy to clean, but, as we said at the very beginning, every drop and every speck of dust will be visible in the black version. Therefore, if the interior design does not dictate harsh conditions, it is much more expedient to buy a white version, there is no difference in price.

The burner layout is exactly the same as the previous model, with a large express burner on the right. User opinions about this arrangement are polar, but still more positive. Types of burners – two standard, and one “express”, and with a double circuit, power – 3.4 kW. On the net, you can find the wording “triple crown” in the descriptions, but in fact there are still two, not three rows of flames in the express burner.

Supports for dishes (grids) in this model are cast iron and stable, made according to the same principle as in the above described MAUNFELD EGHG.32.1CWG. That is, three independent supports for each burner is the best option in terms of ease of washing.

The hob has an electric ignition function, it works automatically when the knob is turned, and it works quickly. The gas control function may sometimes require holding the regulator in order for the temperature sensor to work and the flame not to go out immediately.

In general, this is a solid, high-quality and reliable hob, and in work it shows itself on the positive side. The only problem that users sometimes face is at the connection stage. The delivery set includes an L-shaped adapter used for direct connection, that is, without two threaded connections. If the countertop is more than 26 cm thick, and the supply hose is crimped, then you will need to buy another adapter.

Advantages

  • surface – tempered glass;
  • relatively simple cleaning;
  • there is an express burner;
  • type of express burner – double-circuit (double crown);
  • cast iron grills;
  • set for connection to bottled gas;
  • grids are separate for each burner;
  • convenient regulators;
  • stylish look.

Flaws

  • there may be small and easily solved connection difficulties;
  • when choosing black, you must be prepared for the distinct visibility of the slightest traces of dried water.

LEX GVG 431C IV

Rating: 4.8

LEX GVG 431C IV

The hob of another “guerrilla” brand will continue the review. The LEX trademark is promoted with a hint of its alleged Italian origin, and according to the documents, it is so. However, it belongs to a Russian company. Despite this, LEX household appliances show good performance in terms of price-quality ratio, and, in particular, the LEX GVG 431C IV model can be recommended for purchase.

We immediately point out an important distinguishing feature of this model. There is an express burner, and not a simple one, but a full-fledged “triple crown” with three rows of fire. On various resources you can find an indication of the presence of a wok burner. This is exactly what it is, but it could be considered a wok-burner to the full extent if there was a special stand included in the kit. Burner power: standard – 1.75 kW, auxiliary – 1 kW, wok – 3.5 kW. Automatic electric ignition and gas control are present.

Now a few words about the physical parameters of the unit. Overall dimensions – 45x51x9.50 cm. Perimeter dimensions for panel embedding – 45x51x9.50 cm. Surface material – tempered glass. Accordingly, the surface is quite easy to wash, and dried and burnt dirt can be easily cleaned off without scratches and abrasions.

What else is remarkable about the LEX GVG 431C IV is the design. If all the models described above were made either in white or in black, then this series also includes a beige shade with brass switches. In this version, the hob combines both modern style and retro, with a slight touch of steampunk. The regulators are located in the right place – on the right, in a whole group, at the maximum distance from the nearest burner.

With the grilles here, the manufacturer did not act as elegantly as with the overall design. The grate is the only one for all burners and enamelled, that is, steel with all the disadvantages of this option. At first, it will cope with its tasks, but in the future deformations will appear, and the dishes will “feel” not so stable. Washing such a grill is also not very convenient due to its size.

The estimated service life, according to the manufacturer, is 10 years, but these data of the manufacturer do not oblige to anything. But the guarantee obliges, and its official period for this model is 3 years.

Advantages

  • quality of materials and assembly;
  • express burner “triple crown”;
  • reasonable arrangement of the group of regulators;
  • exquisite design;
  • auto ignition;
  • gas control.

Flaws

  • solid steel grate for all burners.

Korting HGG 485 CTN

Rating: 4.9

Korting HGG 485 CTN

The three-burner gas hob from Körting completes the selection. This is a trademark with a very confusing history. Now it belongs to the well-known Slovenian engineering company Gorenje. Here, the situation is exactly the same as with many manufacturers, where there are sonorous names like Bosh or Siemens, but the products are made anywhere, but not in Germany. Nevertheless, such brands often demonstrate decent quality.

It is no coincidence that the Körting HGG 485 CTN hob is the most expensive in this collection. There are elements here, if not premium class, then certainly not cheap equipment. Tempered glass surface; three color options – black, white, beige; The stylish stainless steel knobs contrast well with the surface in any color scheme, and they are not ribbed, which is also good. In a word, in terms of appearance, materials and assembly, there are no questions to the panel.

Further, if you look at the functionality, there are also almost no problems with everything – the regulators turn smoothly, the electric ignition works clearly, the gas control works flawlessly. Slightly, the model loses to some conditional competitors in terms of the power of the wok burner. Here, a double flame gives a thermal power of 2.5 kW. Left far burner – 1.7 kW, near auxiliary – 1 kW.

In the delivery set there is a special stand for a real wok. There is also a nozzle adapter for very small dishes like Turks for making brewed coffee. And the kit also includes an adapter and jets for connecting to bottled gas.

Unit dimensions – 56x450x525 mm, dimensions for embedding – 30x415x490. The hob without packaging weighs 10 kg. The connection to the gas source is on the right.

Despite all the advantages, this model is not without its drawbacks. For example, the manufacturer strictly does not recommend loading the stove with pots with a content of more than 5 kg. And this is not a formal restriction – there were precedents when the tempered glass of the surface cracked under a filled six-liter pan.

Advantages

  • strained glass;
  • stainless steel regulators;
  • cast iron grate;
  • express burner (wok) with a double flame;
  • adapter and jets for bottled gas included;
  • burner attachments included, including wok stand.

Flaws

  • solid grate for all burners;
  • physical activity restrictions (total weight of cooking pots).

The best 4-burner gas hobs

Now we come to the gas hobs of the most popular form factor – four burners. This is a classic that everyone buys, even those who have as many as four burners objectively without need. But for a family with more than two people, or even more, a four-burner stove is practically a necessary standard.

GEFEST SG CH 1210 K5

Rating: 4.6

GEFEST SG CH 1210 K5

The selection will be opened again by the Belarusian trade mark GEFEST with the hob SG SN 1210 K5, which leaves far behind the closest competitors in terms of price. At the same time, it must be admitted, the Brestgazoapparat plant here really tried to produce not only a solid working thing, but also a presentable one.

The dimensions of the panel are 59x52x10.50 cm, the parameters for embedding are 55.4 x 49.4 cm. The surface is made of stainless steel with all its advantages in terms of appearance. The problem of visibility of dried splashes remains, but the plate is easy and quick to clean.

In this model, the most reasonable arrangement of burners is adopted. A large express burner is located in front and at some distance from the rest on a kind of technological indent. Next to it on the right is a small auxiliary (or, as it is also called, economical) burner. Two standard burners of the same size are located on the second line. The position of the burners in height is also well thought out, and minimizes the likelihood of extinguishing the flame in case of “running away” of the contents of the pan at the moment of boiling.

On the right, on the same line with a small burner, all four gas supply regulators are installed in one group, and not vertically, but on the front face. Thus, the often encountered problem of heating the regulators during cooking is completely eliminated. To the right of a row of regulators there is an electric ignition button. Yes, there is no auto-ignition built into the regulators, but at the moment there is no systematic negative feedback from users. Nevertheless, we will mark this feature as a disadvantage, since auto-ignition is still important for some users. But the lack of gas control is already regarded as a minus by the majority of the target audience.

This model has a 2 year manufacturing warranty. Estimated service life, according to the manufacturer – 10 years.

Advantages

  • proper arrangement of burners;
  • optimal arrangement of regulators (heating is excluded);
  • metal regulators;
  • cast iron grills;
  • reliability and reliability;
  • spectacular appearance;
  • easy to clean;
  • one of the best combinations of price and features.

Flaws

  • no gas control;
  • electric ignition with a separate button.

Weissgauff HGG 641 WGH

Rating: 4.7

Weissgauff HGG 641 WGH

We are moving from the super-cheap GEFEST hob to more real market prices in this segment. Consider a four-burner model from the Weissgauff brand. Recall that this brand has an interesting German history, but now it belongs to a Russian company, which, in fact, registered it from scratch.

This hob uses tempered glass as the surface. In combination with other elements, this gives the device a modern, stylish appearance, concise and almost universal. Dimensions – 58.40x51x10 cm, embedding parameters – 56 x 48 cm.

The placement of the burners here is thought out according to a principle similar to the previous model. The large express burner is in the front left, the small auxiliary burner is in the front right, and the two standard burners are in the back. The only difference is that the large burner is in line with the small burner, and does not protrude, as is the case with the GEFEST SG CH 1210 K5. This can make it difficult to fit several dishes on the stove at once, but it significantly reduces the area of u200bu200bthe hob itself. What is more important for whom is already a matter of individual choice.

Separately, it is worth saying a few words about the burners themselves, or rather, even about one, the most “main”. The express burner in this model provides heating in terms of a power of 3.4 kW. At the same time, its design forms three independent flame circuits. Thus, here we are dealing with a full-fledged “triple crown”, and the manufacturer himself positions the burner as a WOK, but there is no special stand for the “cauldron” wok.

All four rotary gas supply regulators are also placed here in one group on the right side directly under the small burner, that is, the likelihood of heating and deformation is also minimized. Auto-ignition is built into the regulators. Some users note that at the first time of operation, auto-ignition can work for a long time, and it takes more than 5 seconds to keep the knob pressed, especially to ignite a small auxiliary burner. But over time, auto-ignition is “developed”.

Advantages

  • strained glass;
  • wok burner with three flame circuits;
  • proper placement of burners;
  • the correct location of the gas supply regulators;
  • automatic ignition;
  • gas control;
  • stylish look.

Flaws

  • no wok stand;
  • during the first time of operation, electric ignition may work for a long time.

MAUNFELD EGHG.64.2CBG

Rating: 4.8

MAUNFELD EGHG.64.2CBG

Again, in our review, the trademark MAUNFELD, owned by a Russian company registered in the UK, appears. This time we will look at a particularly spectacular and original four-burner hob, which has earned many positive reviews from experts and ordinary users. It is only a few thousand more expensive than the previous version, or even less, depending on the point of sale.

The design of this hob is so minimalistic that it attracts even more attention. The black color of the tempered glass surface, of course, creates known problems with the visibility of splash marks and streaks after washing, but this moment is physically inevitable, and users are for the most part ready for it. Then, there is generally a minimum of any design elements at all, for which the eye could catch, but the gratings of a characteristic shape and the gas supply regulators contrasting with the black background create a very attractive effect.

Panel dimensions – 59×51.50 cm, embedding parameters – 56×48.5 cm. High-quality burners made in Italy. There is an express burner, it is large, but with only one flame circuit with a power of 2600 W – this moment upsets some users who rightly argue that the “triple crown” literally asks for this model. Small burner – 1000 watts of power, two standard – 1700 watts each.

With all fair claims to the low power and “low contour” of the express burner, it is placed as competently as possible – at some distance diagonally from the others, just as it was done in the above-described GEFEST SG SN 1210 K5. It doesn’t matter who “spied” this simple idea from whom, the main thing is that it is successfully implemented here. The group of rotary controls is also placed more than logically – all four together on the right, on the opposite side of the large burner.

Another thing to praise is the grilles. There is nothing to cling to here at all – they are cast iron, with a matte, but fine-grained surface, and even completely independent. That is, they can be conveniently folded in the sink for soaking, and nothing will stick out. They, among other things, have the characteristic shape of a hexagon, and look incredibly organic and “feng shui” in every sense.

All the necessary automation is present in this model – auto-ignition built into the regulators, gas control. Sourdillion French-made jets for connection to bottled gas are included in the delivery set. By the way, the burners here are also of high quality, made in Italy by SABAF.

Advantages

  • strained glass;
  • glass thickness 8 mm.
  • four independent grids;
  • grating material – cast iron;
  • burners “SABAF” Italian production;
  • French Sourdillion jets for bottled gas;
  • minimalistic, but unusual and attractive modern design.

Flaws

  • express burner single-circuit.

Hotpoint-Ariston TQG 641 (BK)

Rating: 4.9

Hotpoint-Ariston TQG 641 (BK)

Completing the selection of the best 4-burner hobs according to Expertology magazine is the model of the once Italian-British, and now the American Hotpoint-Ariston brand. This is the most expensive, but at the same time, the most original brewing model in this part of the review, and this originality of it can become a decisive factor in the choice for some users.

Let’s start with the main thing, and the main thing in this model immediately catches your eye – the location of the burners. When viewed from the front panel, the arrangement resembles the corners of a “lying” rhombus. The extreme left is a large express burner, to the right on the vertical axis are a small and standard burner (small further, standard closer), and the extreme right on the same horizontal axis with the left express burner is another standard burner.

We will give a little more detailed information on the burners. The diameters of the burners are as follows: standard – 7.5 cm each, small – 5.5 cm, express – 10 cm. Their power: 1.65 kW, 1 kW and 3 kW, respectively. The express burner, unfortunately, as in the case of the previous model, has only one row of flames.

Finally, we will find out the physical parameters of this model to help you navigate the future installation. Panel width – 59 cm, depth – 51 cm, height – 4.1 cm. Dimensions for embedding (niche) – 47.5×55.5 cm. The unit weighs decently – 17 kg. In many ways, the weight is determined by the thick tempered glass surface. The prefix BK in the name indicates the color scheme – Black, that is, black. In the range there is exactly the same, but white.

Advantages

  • unusual, but very reasonable arrangement of burners;
  • convenient control – the regulators are spaced two by two on the sides of the front panel;
  • surface – tempered glass;
  • auto ignition;
  • gas control;
  • cast iron grills;
  • spectacular appearance.

Flaws

  • only one row of flame in the express burner.

The best gas hobs for 5 burners

Finally, the most interesting and unusual selection in the review of the best gas hobs according to Expertology magazine will present you with the best solutions for a large family – five-burner hobs. Recall that in the assortment of different manufacturers there are solutions for more burners up to ten, but such options are already in vanishingly low demand, and are only suitable for special conditions.

GEFEST PVG 2341

Rating: 4.5

GEFEST PVG 2341

Let’s start, as always, with the most affordable option. It is expected that this will be the Belarusian trade mark GEFEST. And I must say that the Brestgazoapparat plant here in a good way surprised me with its design. GEFEST kitchen equipment as a whole has significantly “pulled up” in recent years in terms of design, but PVG 2341 is really something that looks in the spirit of the best premium class samples.

So, here we have five cooking zones. The basic group of burners is located in the shape of a square: at the back there are two standard ones with a power of 1.75 kW each, on the right in front – a small power of 1 kW, on the left in front – a large power of 3 kW. The most powerful burner with two flame circuits is located at a considerable distance from the base group to the right in a distinctly separate zone. Its power is 3.2 kW. All the necessary automation is present – auto-ignition built into the rotary controls, gas control.

Now about the physical parameters of the unit. Panel dimensions – 80 cm wide, 10 cm high, 52.5 cm deep. Weighs without packaging – 17 kg. Supplied in a box measuring 80.25×57.5×19 cm. Required niche dimensions for embedding – 76×48.6 cm. Tempered glass surface, the most popular color is anthracite black.

This model uses massive cast-iron grates with a sufficiently rough surface so that the dishes do not slip on them, but at the same time not too coarse-grained. That is, with washing there will not be any special problems. What is most remarkable is that the holder grates come separately for each burner, that is, they can be washed in the sink separately as they are used, or even in the dishwasher, if its technical characteristics allow.

The official warranty for GEFEST PVG 2341 from the factory is 24 months. Estimated service life is 60 months. Replacement nozzles are included in delivery.

Advantages

  • the most convenient location of the express burner;
  • the correct location of the group of regulators;
  • cast iron grills;
  • separate grate for each burner;
  • express burner “double crown”;
  • automatic ignition;
  • gas control;
  • one of the best combinations of price, quality, functionality and style;
  • extraordinarily effective design.

Flaws

  • no obvious minuses and systematic user complaints have been identified.

Hotpoint-Ariston PCN 751 T IX

Rating: 4.6

Hotpoint-Ariston PCN 751 T IX

The final block of our review will be continued by the five-burner gas hob of the Hotpoint-Ariston trademark. It is notable for the well-known quality of materials and workmanship and the characteristic symmetrical arrangement of burners.

The surface here is already made of stainless steel. Here it is worth making some clarification. The degree of soiling of stainless steel surfaces often varies significantly. This moment is determined by the steel grade and the features of the production technology. In this case, the surface is quite easily soiled, which causes dissatisfaction among users, especially those who have already dealt with stoves with a stainless steel surface. If this moment is critically important for you, you can look for the Hotpoint-Ariston PCN 750 T (OW) R model for sale. Technically, it is completely similar, but only the surface is enameled and beige in color.

Panel dimensions – 73 cm in width, 51 cm in depth. The required dimensions of the niche are 55.5×47.5 cm. Five burners are placed symmetrically, shaped like dots in the “five” of dice. In the center is the most powerful “double crown” burner with a diameter of 13 cm and a power of 3.3 kW. On the right side, front and back, there are standard burners with a diameter of 7.5 cm and a power of 1650 W each. On the left behind is a large burner with a diameter of 10 cm and a power of 2600 watts. And on the left front is a small auxiliary burner with a diameter of 5.5 cm and a power of 1000 watts.

The grilles of this model are massive, cast iron and partially separate. Partly because they do not go separately for each grate, but one long grate for two burners. The central one has the same length as the side ones, but a different shape, optimal for large dishes.

All the necessary automation is also present in this model – auto-ignition built into the regulators, gas control. A group of all five controls is located in the center of the front panel.

Advantages

  • build quality;
  • gas control;
  • auto ignition;
  • symmetrical arrangement of burners;
  • three sets for different types of gas;
  • there is a “double crown” burner;
  • three separate cast-iron grates;
  • nice design.

Flaws

  • very rough surface.

Bosch PCQ7A5B90

Rating: 4.7

Bosch PCQ7A5B90

The third number in the five-burner gas hobs section of our review is an interesting model of the legendary German brand Bosch. Despite all the ambiguities of this company in terms of the total transfer of production to China, some areas still did not deteriorate, and those that clearly began to sag in quality, the management, having realized it in time, put it in order. The PCQ7A5B90 model has proven itself very well, experts and users for the most part have a strictly positive opinion about it.

In short, this model does not have special “chips” and pronounced advantages. Its advantages are not so obvious, but much more important – reliability and durability. And here, even the manufacturer himself does not set exorbitant service life like 10 years, but gives the usual modest, but honest guarantee of 1 year.

Let’s move on to the technical specifications. The dimensions of the panel on the sides are 75×52 cm, the required dimensions of the niche for embedding are 56×49 cm. The surface is made of stainless steel and has the appropriate look, but there is a point that must not be forgotten. The surface is coated with a special composition that minimizes soiling and oxidation. This composition is “afraid” of abrasive detergents. Actually, the metal surface itself would also not be delighted with abrasives, since only tempered glass can easily tolerate them, but it would be useful to remind.

The placement of the burners here is in the same way as in the model described above. In the center is a large burner of increased power with a double flame. This is a burner with increased power – up to 4 kW. Actually, the manufacturer himself calls it a WOK burner, and “increased power”, according to the official wording, is the right far power of 3 kW. Two standard burners with a capacity of 1.75 kW each are located in the far left and near right corners, respectively. A small burner with a power of 1 kW is in the lower left corner.

All five rotary controls are located in the center of the front panel. They have built-in auto-ignition elements. The gas control function is also present. Another noteworthy point in the Bosch PCQ7A5B90 is the stepwise adjustment of the flame intensity (FlameSelect technology) within 9 levels. Technically, there is nothing particularly outstanding in the idea, and not everyone likes this approach, but it does not annoy anyone, and some buyers are completely delighted with this function.

Advantages

  • respectable brand;
  • quality of materials and assembly;
  • surface coating against soiling;
  • there is a “double crown” burner with increased power (up to 4 kW);
  • auto ignition;
  • FlameSelect function for fine adjustment of fire intensity;
  • gas control;
  • spectacular appearance.

Flaws

  • no obvious minuses and systematic user complaints have been identified.

Electrolux GPE 373NK

Rating: 4.8

Electrolux GPE 373NK

Now in our review follows the gas hob of the famous Swedish brand Electrolux. The GPE 373 NK model is noticeably more expensive than all the previous ones, but there are good reasons for that – it is as close as possible to the premium class, both in terms of the quality of materials and assembly, and in terms of additional functionality.

First, about the main characteristics. The dimensions of the panel along the perimeter are 74×51 cm, the required niche dimensions for embedding are 4x56x48 cm. The surface is made of thick tempered glass. The design as a whole is very attractive, and the backlight of the control panel adds a special charm to it.

The burners are arranged symmetrically on the panel with the most powerful wok burner in the center. Its power is 4 kW with a diameter of 12.2 cm. A small burner with a diameter of 5.4 cm is located on the front left. In the remaining burners, the manufacturer decided to approach in a peculiar way. It was decided to abandon another large burner due to its not too great advantages over a wok burner. Instead, there are three standard burners with a diameter of 7 cm each – on the left front and rear, and on the right rear.

The group of gas supply regulators is located in the center of the front panel. An electric ignition element is built into each, and when turned, the gas ignites automatically. There is a gas control function. Premium bonus features – electronic flame control indicator and acoustic signal.

An even more interesting feature in this model is the Hob2Hood technology. This is the author’s development of Electrolux. It implies a kind of intelligent connection between the hob and the hood, within which the power of the hood is automatically adjusted depending on the nature of the dish being prepared. The hob gives a special signal to the hood through the infrared port, and it independently changes the mode to more or less intense.

Advantages

  • premium class;
  • quality of materials and assembly;
  • tempered glass surface;
  • control panel illumination;
  • acoustic signal;
  • electronic flame control indicator;
  • auto ignition in switches;
  • gas control;
  • automatic adjustment of operating modes of the hood (patented Hob2Hood technology);
  • effective design.

Flaws

  • No major disadvantages have been identified.

SMEG SR775RA

Rating: 4.9

SMEG SR775RA

The review of the best gas hobs according to Expertology magazine will be completed by the brightest model in all respects of the Italian brand SMEG. The manufacturer is known for its premium large kitchen appliances, and the SR775RA model certainly represents the top level.

The high class of the device is already visible at a cursory examination. According to the materials, we see real copper fittings, nickel-plated burner base surfaces, high-quality enamel nozzle covers, cast-iron grates with a matte, but not coarse-grained surface. Panel dimensions – 68.50x50x3.20 cm, niche dimensions for embedding – 56×48.2 cm.

The burners are arranged symmetrically, as in the three previous solutions. The most interesting and functional is, of course, the central wok burner with a double flame, and, most importantly, with a double control. That is, the flame circuits are independent, and they can be turned on individually or both at once. The total power of the wok burner is as much as 5 kW, the individual circuits are 3.9 and 1.1 kW, respectively. On the right, the rear and front burners have a power of 1.65 kW, respectively. Rear left increased power – 2.55 kW. Front left economical – 1.05 kW.

This model, of course, has all the necessary automation – auto-ignition in each rotary knob, gas control. Included in the scope of delivery is a connection kit for LPG G30. Separately, you can buy the Smeg BB3679 cast iron grill, designed specifically for this series.

Advantages

  • top premium class;
  • copper and nickel-plated fittings;
  • central wok burner with dual control;
  • gas control;
  • auto ignition;
  • a special grill Smeg BB3679 can be purchased and installed;
  • The design combines modern style with a touch of steampunk.

Flaws

  • high price.
