The best wired headphones for your phone

Wired headphones remain in demand for a number of reasons. Other things being equal, they are cheaper, do not require periodic recharging, and are much more difficult to lose.

Defender Tanto

Rating: 4.7

Defender Tanto

Popular budget closed-back in-ear headphones. One of the most affordable options with good performance, as evidenced by many positive reviews.

The Defender Tanto has a relatively low impedance – 16 ohms with a sensitivity of 105 dB. Therefore, they provide a good volume level even on weak smartphones, where little power is given to the 3.5 mm mini-jack connector according to the residual principle.

At the same time, the quality of the bass will already strictly depend on the characteristics of the smartphone. For the most part, few models can provide good lows, and far from the cheapest ones. There is a volume control unit on the cord and a microphone in the same place.

Headphones are strong, durable with a stable coating. The cord, however, requires careful handling. It is soft and comfortable, but with hard use, the insulation of the wires may lose integrity.

Aesthetes will appreciate the cute design with red-gray-black colors.

Advantages

  • good volume threshold;

  • microphone;

  • volume control;

  • comfortable braided cord;

  • effective design and coloring;

  • minimum price.

Flaws

  • cord requires careful handling.

JBL C100SI

Rating: 4.8

JBL C100SI

A super-popular global manufacturer and one of the most popular in-channel models among Russian consumers. It costs three times more than the previous one, but is still considered budget and definitely worth the money.

Here we see almost the same ratio of resistance and sensitivity – 16 ohms and 103 dB. But on top of that, the increased maximum power is 3 mW. In terms of sound quality and bass, it shows very good results even on weak smartphones.

The interaction with a smartphone is much better developed than that of Defender Tanto. From the control panel, you can switch to a call and back to listening to music. There is partial compatibility with the iPhone.

The sound quality is facilitated by a gold-plated 3.5 mm jack and, in general, a good quality of materials.

The heads are as strong as the previous model, but the cable is noticeably more resistant to wear.

The obvious drawback is that there is no volume control.

Advantages

  • brand;

  • increased power;

  • gold-plated connector;

  • partial compatibility with iPhone;

  • switching to a call and back;

  • wear resistant cable.

Flaws

  • no volume control.

HUAWEI AM115

Rating: 4.9

HUAWEI AM115

A slightly more expensive option, but with obvious advantages for owners of HUAWEI smartphones. The brand needs no introduction.

These are no longer in-ear headphones, but earbuds. Therefore, isolation from sounds from the outside will be obviously lower, but many people prefer this format.

It should be noted that here the resistance is twice as high – 32 ohms with a sensitivity of 98 dB. For HUAWEI smartphones, this will mostly be an advantage, as smartphones from this brand are often designed with increased attention to sound.

But for other smartphones, you need to compare specifications. In some cases, the volume threshold may be insufficient, and the bass may be practically absent. It is optimal to select this model only with the possibility of checking on the spot.

On the cord there is a block for adjusting the volume and switching tracks. There is also a microphone there.

Advantages

  • brand;

  • quality of materials and workmanship;

  • volume control;

  • microphone;

  • elegant design;

  • are optimal in their price category for HUAWEI smartphones.

Flaws

  • limited selection of suitable smartphone models.

Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD

Rating: 5.0

Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD

The most expensive wired earphones in this collection. The previous ones are several times more expensive, at the level of good wireless ones. But there are objective reasons for this, as evidenced by the mass of positive reviews.

This is really the next level in the class of in-ear wired headphones. First of all, here we see the upper threshold of reproducible frequencies twice as high as in the above options – 40,000 Hz. The human ear does not perceive such frequencies, but the task here is not this, but the quality of reproduction of those high frequencies that most other models are not capable of.

The ratio of impedance and sensitivity is the same as that of the HUAWEI AM115 – 16 ohms and 98 dB. Therefore, to fully unlock the potential, you will need a smartphone with the appropriate power on the 3.5 mm jack.

It is also worth noting a comfortable fit – the characteristic shape of the stop allows you to firmly install the headphones in your ear with one slightest movement.

Advantages

  • top class;

  • impeccable workmanship;

  • comfortable and stable fit in the ears;

  • sound quality with the smallest details, especially in the high range;

  • volume control.

Flaws

  • the price is comparable to TWS earphones.

The best wireless headphones for your phone

Now let’s look at two examples of headphones that are already wireless, but not yet True Wireless, that is, they are connected by a wire to each other, and are already connected to a smartphone wirelessly. They are much less popular than TWS, but they have their advantages and are harder to lose.

Hoco ES29

Rating: 4.9

Hoco ES29

These are dynamic in-ear headphones. They are connected to each other with a shackle, which is attached to the back of the neck. The headband is elastic, but holds its shape well. On the left side of the bow there is a control unit with volume control buttons. The buttons are large and responsive, you can press even with gloves on.

The headphones are connected to the phone via high-speed Bluetooth 5.0, they support Headset, A2DP, HFP and AVRCP profiles.

The headphone impedance is optimal for a wide range of smartphone models, including inexpensive ones – 16 ohms with a sensitivity of 120 dB. So the model provides a very decent volume even at the minimum positions of the regulators.

At the same time, surprisingly expressive bass, sometimes even excessive, but they can be corrected with an equalizer. True, high is not the strongest side of the model, this must be taken into account when choosing.

A 180 mAh battery provides up to 16 hours of operation according to the passport. In reality, the operating time is less, but it easily withstands up to 10 hours.

Advantages

  • high volume threshold;

  • good low;

  • comfortable neckband;

  • Convenient and responsive volume buttons.

Flaws

  • unimpressive high.

BandRate Smart BRSNI04WS

Rating: 5.0

BandRate Smart BRSNI04WS

Another model that, in addition to worthy basic characteristics, also has rare versatility. At the same time, it does not cost too much more than the previous version.

These are dynamic in-ear headphones that can brighten up leisure even if the smartphone is not available for some reason. For this, a miniature MP3 player is included in the design. It is located in front, on the chest. On the side there is a slot for a TF memory card. The sound control unit and track selection, plus the microphone are located in the same place.

Headphones give a good volume threshold and good bass. Sound quality is enhanced by active noise cancellation.

The left and right headphones are connected by a neckband of the same shape as the Hoco ES29. For ease of transportation, a magnetic lock is provided.

There is basic water protection, but you should not abuse it, it can only protect against splashes.

The weak point of the model is the battery, which, other things being equal, gives a noticeably lower autonomy than many other models of this class.

Advantages

  • built-in player;

  • memory card slot;

  • active noise cancellation;

  • magnetic lock;

  • basic moisture protection.

Flaws

  • autonomy.

Best TWS earbuds for phone

The third selection is dedicated to the most popular format of wireless headphones for phones – True Wireless. These headphones are completely autonomous individually, each equipped with its own miniature battery.

Oppo Enco Air W32

Rating: 4.6

Oppo Enco Air W32

These are closed-back dynamic in-ear headphones from a well-known smartphone manufacturer. The combination of a large 12mm diaphragm, the quality of key materials and high sensitivity provide more than decent sound. The model is optimally compatible with smartphones of the same brand.

The headphones connect to the host device via high bandwidth Bluetooth 5.2. Supports AAC, SBC codecs. Data transfer speed and low input lag make mobile gaming especially comfortable.

Each earphone is equipped with a 25 mAh battery. This capacity is enough to work up to 4 hours, but it all depends on the volume. At a volume of 50% and above, the headphones work for no more than 3 hours. But the charging case has a 440 mAh battery, and most importantly, a fast charging function. 10 minutes of recharging the case is enough for 8 hours of work in total. But the charging time of the headphones themselves is quite long – 1.5 hours, which is not very convenient.

Advantages

  • build quality;

  • silicone nozzle;

  • volume and low;

  • game mode with low latency;

  • basic moisture protection;

  • fast charging case;

  • USB Type-C connector of the case.

Flaws

  • long charging time.

Xiaomi Redmi Buds 3 Pro

Rating: 4.6

Xiaomi Redmi Buds 3 Pro

The third generation of Redmi Buds from Xiaomi in the maximum Pro version. Typical minimalist design and a combination of decent quality at an affordable price.

These are in-ear headphones with a special shape of the head, which at the same time fits snugly in the ears, but does not create discomfort during many hours of use.

Data transfer is well developed here thanks to the Qualcomm QCC3040 Bluetooth chipset. Due to the high bandwidth, the headphones are able to play audio at the highest bitrate. Supports aptX codec as well as SBC and AAC.

Relatively large 12 mm dynamic drivers are made of high-quality composite materials. Provides decent sound throughout the audible range with pronounced, but unobtrusive bass. Sound quality adds active noise cancellation (ANC).

Headphones work time – up to 5 hours. Comes with a power bank case with a USB Type-C connector. There is a fast charging of the case and headphones. 10 minutes of charging gives 1.5 hours of work.

Advantages

  • elegant appearance;

  • comfortable and tight fit in the ear;

  • high-quality emitters made of composite materials;

  • active noise cancellation;

  • USB Type-C connector of the case;

AUDIO-TECHNICA ATH-CKS5TW LTD

Rating: 4.7

AUDIO-TECHNICA ATH-CKS5TW LTD

Popular headphones from a brand known to more than one generation. In-ear, with a special shape of the ear cushions, providing maximum physical isolation from external sounds.

This model is already designed for demanding users, but who are not ready to pay tens of thousands of rubles in mid-2022 for wireless headphones. For a reasonable price, here we have an extended range of reproducible frequencies and almost a record autonomy.

The model supports all current Bluetooth codecs, including aptX. There is also support for all popular usage profiles – HSP, A2DP, AVRCP and others.

The mentioned high autonomy is achieved by capacious mini-batteries, which provide an operating time of up to 15 hours. The total operating time with a fully charged case is up to 45 hours, which is certainly a record in this class. But there is a downside to this – due to large batteries, the body of each earbud is quite large.

Headphones have basic moisture protection, but minimal – it will protect against accidental splashes, but not from rain.

Advantages

  • brand;

  • extended frequency range;

  • record autonomy;

  • basic moisture protection;

  • design;

  • USB Type-C connector of the case.

Flaws

  • too big because of the batteries, not for sleeping.

ANKER Soundcore Life Note 3 NC

Rating: 4.8

ANKER Soundcore Life Note 3 NC

Another model of a well-known brand, and in terms of class it is already approaching the top “middle peasants”. In-ear dynamic headphones in a stem form factor.

There is not much functionality in this model, as the developers have focused their main efforts on ensuring sound quality. And they succeeded. Headphones give excellent audibility over the entire range with a pronounced scene, detail and localization.

There is even an intelligent bass adjustment system – BassUp. Lows are automatically adjusted to achieve optimal balance.

The autonomy characteristics of this model are not bad, as for TWS – up to 6 hours of continuous operation. For such a compact version, this is a good result. The complete case charges up to 3 hours via USB Type-C.

Improved IPX5 moisture protection has already been implemented here. It is able to protect the headphones from light rain, but it is still better to avoid contact with water.

Advantages

  • manufacturing quality;

  • comfortable fit;

  • combination of price and sound quality;

  • support for all popular profiles;

  • USB Type-C case connector;

  • moisture protection IPX5.

Flaws

  • not fundamental.

Samsung Galaxy Buds2

Rating: 4.9

Samsung Galaxy Buds2

Now consider one of the best headphone options that are native to Samsung smartphones. Galaxy Buds2 are made in a well-recognized drop shape, miniature, almost imperceptible. And at the same time they can please with excellent sound.

In addition to the quality of sound reproduction, this model is also notable for its recording quality. As many as three highly sensitive microphones provide excellent audibility in the most dynamic conditions.

Also here we see the Talk through function, which only expensive models can boast of. This function allows you to make the external environment audible without removing the headphones from your ears.

Autonomy in this model is a bit frustrating. The declared 5 hours of work is not a record anyway, but in fact the headphones pull out even less. The case provides several charging cycles, so in total the formal autonomy without the need for an outlet is 29 hours.

Advantages

  • brand;

  • impeccable sound quality;

  • three microphones;

  • transparency mode Talk through;

  • special, recognizable, elegant design.

Flaws

  • not too impressive autonomy.

Apple AirPods Pro

Rating: 5.0

Apple AirPods Pro

Finally, our review will be completed by Apple’s undoubted hit – the famous AirPods Pro. We do not mention their price, it is obvious to everyone that this model is not affordable for everyone.

These are dynamic in-ear headphones with Active Noise Canceling technology. They are incredibly, record-breaking light – only 5.4 g per earpiece. Due to the almost zero weight, the ideal quality of the ear cushions and the optimal geometry of the case, they are practically not felt in the ears.

In addition to the undoubted sound quality, there is also a set of high-tech add-ons. This is surround sound, control through a voice assistant, switching on the acoustic transparency Talk through mode.

With regards to the operating time, here, for this price, 4.5 nominal hours still look like a drawback. There is a charging case, with it the total battery life grows up to a day. But there is fast charging – 5 minutes of charging in the case provides 1 hour of earbuds. Charging the case only through Lightning.

Advantages

  • top prestigious brand;

  • impeccable surround sound;

  • record light and comfortable;

  • impeccable quality in everything;

  • active noise cancellation;

  • transparency mode Talk through;

  • voice assistant.

Flaws

  • working hours;

  • price.
